Dunaalmás is a settlement with rich historical past and traditions in a
wonderful natural surrounding on the shore of the Danube. The most
noteworthy tourist attraction of the settlement is the unique healing
waters, rich in sulfurous substances, already utilized by the Romans and the
Habsburg queen, Maria Teresa. For various reasons, the spa of the settlement
functioned only until 1986. From the second half of the 1990ies, conditions
for creating a modern recreation and wellness center reemerged.

Plans are available for suitably regulating the shore of the Danube. There
is a natural source of spa water with 1500 l/min output. In addition, an
authorization for building a well for a swimming pool is also available. The
mineral content of the water is approximately 700 mg/l. This consists
chiefly of hydro-carbonate, sulfurous, calcium, magnesium, and lithium
salts, as well as meta-boric acid and other minerals. The water can be used
for alleviating digestive, neurological, joint, and skin ailments.

There is also a design plan with a large-scale demonstration picture for
viewing. The plan includes a swimming pool, a Turkish bath, camping sites, a
wilderness school, a hotel, and a mineral-water bottling plant. The
utilizable area is approximately 25 acres of which the local government owns
16,25 acres. The rest of the land is owned by the state or by the private
sector. The local government can secure purchase rights or long-term leases.

The local government is seeking investors for the above-described project.
Besides this, the plan is marked as a high priority project in the
Central-Transdanubian region and has good chances of receiving EU support,
as well.

The realization of the project is helped by a number of other factors. A
passenger ferry and doc is already functioning and a small boat harbor is
being built. Besides these, there are a number of other tourist attractions
and sightseeing opportunities, including vineyards with vine cellars,
angling, horse riding, water sports, quarries from the Roman epoch,
beautiful environment, etc.
